Genesis 5:5 “Altogether, Adam lived a total of 930 years, and then he died.”
Adam is not mentioned in Hebrews with the people of faith. There are not a lot of things about him in the Bible. God was there when Adam was born, and he is with God now. He started a career of gardening. I don’t know what he did the rest of his long life but if they made a tombstone for him it would read:
Adam 0 – 930
Principle: We have a birth day and a death day. The important days are in between.
Linda Ellis wrote this insightful poem:
I read of a man who stood to speak at a funeral of a friend.
He referred to the dates on the tombstone from the beginning … to the end.
He noted that first came the date of birth and spoke the following date with tears,
but he said what mattered most of all was the dash between those years.
For that dash represents all the time that they spent alive on earth.
And now only those who loved him know what that little line is worth.
Discussion:
1. Have the years so far moved fast for you?
2. How would friends and family evaluate your personal life?
3. How would friends and family evalute your business life?
