Power Source

Isaiah 40:28-31 “Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

Principle:God is your power source. He wants you to enjoy work even though it may be tedious and tiring at times.

Everyone gets tired. Everyone except God.

There are essential, common sense steps to solve tiredness. Get enough sleep. Exercise. Take a day off once a week. Recreate. Don’t skip vacations.

If you are weary of work (sick and tired) delegate more. Change the pace, change careers, or change employers. Stop driving yourself crazy with perfectionism where it is not required. Lighten up. Laugh more. Do the necessary tasks first.

Consider the eagle. They are good examples of focusing on necessary tasks and getting them done. Once an eagle spots its prey, it does not take its eyes off the target. When it dives for a target it can reach a speed of 180 miles an hour.

But in doing that, eagles love to play with the wind. They ride thermal updrafts to an altitude of 14,000 feet. What a nice example of how to live life at work!

Do the practical things. Do the right things. Don’t forget the enjoyable. Plug into the power source – God.

Discussion:

1. Are you a long-day, long-week kind of person? Why?

2. What are your recreation or relaxation preferences?

3. What could “plugging into God” mean to you?
