Exodus 4:10-12 “Moses said to the LORD, ‘Pardon your servant, Lord. I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue.’ The LORD said to him, ‘Who gave human beings their mouths? Who makes them deaf or mute? Who gives them sight or makes them blind? Is it not I, the LORD? Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.”‘

Moses in his humility had an accurate view of his own inabilities, but he made the mistake of applying those same inabilities to God, who has no problem accomplishing anything.

Principle: God is powerful and can use anybody to do anything.

Moses had a Plan “B.”

Exodus 4:13-17 “But Moses said, ‘Pardon your servant, Lord. Please send someone else.’ Then the LORD’s anger burned against Moses and he said, ‘What about your brother, Aaron … You shall speak to him and put words in his mouth; I will help both of you speak and will teach you what to do. He will speak to the people for you and it will be as if he were your mouth and as if you were God to him. But take this staff in your hand so you can perform the signs with it.”‘

Moses could have, and should have, accepted his leadership assignment. But since he did not trust his God-given resources, God worked around him until Moses found his own voice. Moses, the one man in history widely known 4,000 years later by only his first name, was royally educated in Egypt, field-educated for 40 years in the wilderness, and had a direct, face-to-face encounter with the God of the universe. God allowed him to defer his mission to his silver-tongued brother but soon Moses found his own voice while confronting the Pharaoh of Egypt. Ultimately, he led two million people out of exile where his voice was heard and heeded.

God can and will get His message out using somebody else or some other way until your faith and confidence comes into play.

If God calls you to be the voice of clarity, speak up.

If God calls you to speak the truth, do so with conviction.

If Cod calls you to speak, do it with love and compassion.

1. Have you had serious doubts about your own ability to accomplish something great and deferred to somebody else to tackle it?

2. What is God calling you to today? Will you accept His call and His power to fulfill that call?

3. How will you give Him the credit when the job is done?
